Gleneagles Hospital Chennai opened a dedicated eye care centre at its Perumbakkam campus on Monday. The centre was inaugurated by Sudha Seshayyan, Vice Chairperson of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil, along with E. Ravindra Mohan, director, Gleneagles Eye Centre, and Nageswar Rao K., Cluster CEO, Gleneagles Hospitals Chennai and Hyderabad. It offers services across sub-specialties in vision care and follows a multi-disciplinary approach.
With rising screen time among children, the centre aims at addressing concerns around refractive errors and other eye issues in nearby areas.
Ms. Seshayyan said the new facility would benefit residents of Perumbakkam, OMR and Medavakkam. She added that with rising screen exposure due to increased use of digital devices, refractive errors were becoming more common among children and youth.
