Bureau of Indian Standards southern region gets its first woman Deputy Director General

Meenakshi Ganesan assumed charge as the Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Southern Regional Office, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in Chennai on Monday (July 14, 2025). She is the first woman to take over as the DDG of BIS, Southern Region, said a press release.

Headquartered in Chennai, BIS also oversees operations across the southern States of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Union Territory of Puducherry, and the island territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, and Goa.

With service spanning over three decades, Ms. Ganesan held key positions in offices in New Delhi, Coimbatore, Kochi and Hyderabad. She was previously the Head, Southern Regional laboratory, Chennai.
