Two persons died and two others were injured on Tuesday after a fire broke out at a house in east Delhi’s Govindpura, said police.
The two deceased are identified as Tanveer and Nusrat, while Faizal and Aasif are being treated at a hospital. The police are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire.
An emergency team was rushed to the spot after the police received information about the incident at 8.46 p.m.
“The police found out that a fire broke out in an old house and 10 people were trapped inside,” said DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Priya Gautam.
The police officers and the Delhi Fire Service officials rescued six persons, while four others were stuck inside, the DCP said.
“The four were taken to the Dr. Hedgewar hospital, where two of them were declared brought dead and the other two are being treated,” he added.
The blaze was controlled within an hour.
