The 30th graduation day of Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College was held in Madurai on Saturday.
Thoothukudi MP K. Kanimozhi, in her brief graduation day address, congratulated the graduates on completing their degrees, advised them to become responsible citizens and contribute meaningfully to society.
The secretary of the college S.R. Sridhar advised the graduates to stay focused, work hard and be disciplined in order to achieve success in their future endeavours.
Principal A. Rama Subbiah presented the annual report of the college highlighting the college’s academic achievements, research initiatives and achievements in the extracurricular activities. He congratulated the graduates and advised them to uphold the values and ethics instilled in them by the college.
A total of 1,213 students received their degrees. A total of 1,050 students from the undergraduate programmes and 163 students from the postgraduate programmes received their degrees. A total of 52 meritorious students were felicitated with gold medals, certificates, and special prizes for excellence in academic and co-curricular activities.
Governing council members, including the president of the college M. Vijayaraghavan, vice-president R. Jeyaram, joint secretary N. Surendran, treasurer A. Alwarsamy, director C. Prabhu, dignitaries, parents, faculties and staff members were present at the graduation day event.
