Former students (batch 1985-86) of Rameswaram Government Higher Secondary School as part of their yearly practice distributed a total cash prize of ₹60,000 to students who performed well in previous academic year’s (2024-25) board examinations.
“The 11-year-old practice being followed by the alumni in the name of ‘Vizhuthugal’ is aimed to support students with a good academic performance,” said an alumnus named R. Mohan.
As per that, ₹50,000 was handed over to 12 students, six students for class XII and six students for class X, he added.
Further, a student who cleared JEE examination was given ₹10,000 to motivate him to succeed in his higher education.
Also, teachers at the school who recorded 100% results were also recognised, Mr. Mohan noted.
CPI(M) State executive committee member ‘Madukkur‘ S. Ramalingam handed over the cash prize to the students.
