A migrant worker from West Bengal’s Malda district alleged that she and her minor son were detained and beaten up by Delhi Police on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals living illegally in India.
Sajnur Bibi said her son was playing at a parking lot in Pandav Nagar in East Delhi when Delhi Police picked her along with her son on Saturday. The sanitation worker alleged that she was beaten on her back, hands, legs by a baton. Her family also alleged that they had to “pay” ₹25,000 to Delhi Police officials to release the mother-son duo.
The police have not yet commented on the allegations.
