The Palarivattom police in Kerala have registered a case against film producer P.S. Shamnas on a petition by actor Nivin Pauly that the former allegedly forged his signature to appropriate the rights of the forthcoming Malayalam movie Action Hero Biju 2. Mr. Pauly is also the co-producer of the film, which is a sequel to the blockbuster Malayalam movie by the same name, being directed by Abrid Shine.

According to the FIR, an agreement was signed by Mr. Pauly, Mr. Shine and Mr. Shamnas, who owns the film production company Indian Movie Makers, to co-produce the movie on March 3, 2023.

However, Mr. Shamnas allegedly forged a consent letter complete with Mr. Pauly’s forged signature and submitted it to the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce and got the film registered in the name of his production company, the FIR said.

With the registration of the police case, the film chamber is also likely to initiate action against Mr. Shamnas.

Earlier, the Thalayolaparambu police registered a case against Mr. Paul and Mr. Shine on a petition by Mr. Shamnas who had alleged that the overseas rights of the film was sold to a company by Mr. Pauly’s production company Pauly Junior without his knowledge.

Mr. Shamnas has been charged under the Indian Penal Code Sections 465 (forgery), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record).
