Students of Navodaya Central School from Raichur witnessed a live satellite launch at the prestigious ISRO facility in Sriharikota.
A group of 45 students from Grades 8, 9 and 10, accompanied by four faculty members, attended the launch of NISAR satellite on Wednesday.
The visit marks a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to providing real-world exposure to students in the field of space science and technology.
This unique educational journey has been made possible under the visionary leadership of school chairman S.R. Reddy.
The students were accompanied by teachers Naseem Firdaus, Rupali Tripathi, Sanjay Thakur and Amit Mishra.
The satellite, NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar), is a collaborative Earth observation mission between NASA and ISRO.
It was launched aboard the GSLV-F16 rocket into a 743-km sun-synchronous orbit from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
NISAR is expected to revolutionize the way we study our planet by providing high-resolution data on Earth’s surface changes, including ice mass movement, vegetation biomass, sea-level rise and natural disasters like earthquakes and landslips.
