Vital organs harvested from brain-dead accident victim in Virudhunagar

Vital organs of a brain-dead road accident victim were harvested to benefit four patients in Virudhunagar.

A statement from Virudhunagar Government Medical College Hospital said that Sankareswaran, 46, of Nathampatti near Srivilliputtur was admitted following a road accident on Tuesday. He did not respond to the treatment and he was declared brain dead.

After the family members consented, kidneys, liver, skin, and eyes were harvested, the statement said.
