Illegal cases were being filed against the YSRCP leaders and activists for questioning the NDA government on various people’s issues, party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said during his visit to Nellore on Thursday.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy met former Minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy during ‘mulaqat’ in the Nellore Central Prison, and assured to provide support to him in every possible way.

Later, the YSRCP chief went former Kovur MLA Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy’s residence in Sujathamma Colony.

“About 900 police personnel have been deployed and barricades put up. Roads have been dug up in the nearby villages to stop people from entering the city. Still, thousands have come to see the former CM,” claimed YSRCP leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “A total of 14 fake cases have been filed against Mr. Govardhan Reddy. As soon as one case is over, another case is being filed. He has been kept in jail for 64 days. A case has been filed against him for forwarding a video of a press meet about TDP leader and Sarvepalli MLA S. Chandramohan Reddy.”

“sand is free, but where is it being given for free? The government used to get ₹750 crore as income during YSRCP regime. Now, the government has no income. A case has been filed against Mr. Govardhan for expressing solidarity with the construction workers who have protested due to lack of sand,” he said.

“A case was illegally filed against former Venkatachalam ZPTC Venkata Seshaiah. He was sent to jail. Mr. Govardhan held a press meet and spoke out against the police, and a case was filed against him. When the TDP cadre attacked our party workers in Kavali constituency, he visited the victims and a case was filed against him,” Mr. Jagan alleged.

“A case was filed for distributing liquor during the 2024 elections. In fact, the State was under the supervision of the Election Commission at that time. The administration was being run under their supervision. After the NDA government came to power, they completed the investigation and filed a charge-sheet with false statements and implicated Mr. Govardhan,” he alleged.

“A case was filed for illegal quartz mining. The court found no merit in the case and granted anticipatory bail to other accused in the case. However, Mr. Govardhan was sent to jail without being granted anticipatory bail. If you look at the Vigilance report, the VRO said that no quarrying had been done at Thatiparthi for the past four years,” he said.

“The TDP leaders have falsely alleged that Mr. Govardhan has a palace worth ₹100 crore and filed a case. If we look at the Vigilance report, the value of the house was between ₹6 core and ₹7 crore. These cases are proofs to indicate the level of sadism in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu,” he said.
