The 220th death anniversary of freedom fighter Dheeran Chinnamalai will be observed on Sunday (August 3, 2025) at his memorial (Mani Mandapam) in Odanilai near Arachalur. Over 600 police personnel will be deployed for security.
Since 2003, the State government has been commemorating the anniversary as an official government function at his birthplace. As part of the observance, District Collector S. Kandasamy, along with Ministers, will garland the statue and pay floral tributes at 8:30 a.m.
This will be followed by tributes from the freedom fighter’s descendants, leaders of political parties, and representatives from several organisations throughout the day.
To ensure the event proceeds smoothly, the district police have made elaborate security arrangements. A team led by Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha, comprising Additional Superintendents of Police, Deputy Superintendents, Inspectors, and other personnel, are posted for duty at the memorial and along the road.
According to a release from the district police, time slots have been allotted to all political parties and organisations to pay their respects in an orderly manner.
