Mohan Babu University (MBU) hosted its second annual convocation and the 14th Graduation Day of Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College on the university campus in Tirupati on Saturday (August 2). Former Union Minister Praful Patel was the chief guest. Viswa Hindi Parishad President Yarlagadda Lakshmiprasad was also present.

The event was presided over by MBU chancellor Mohan Babu, along with key university leaders Vishnu Manchu, Vinay Maheshwari and Nagaraj Ramrao. As many as 866 students from the MBU and 1,698 students from Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College were awarded their degrees. The graduating cohort represented a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Noted musician Anandan Sivamani and former MP Vijay Jawaharlal Darda were conferred honorary doctorates for their contribution to Indian music and distinguished service to journalism respectively.

Addressing the gathering, Praful Patel said: “The MBU stands out for its excellence, commitment, and vision. I’ve visited some of the world’s leading universities, but the passion, values, and infrastructure I’ve seen here are remarkable. What makes this place exceptional is the dedication of its founders to shape a brighter future for India through education.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Manchu Vishnu, Pro-Chancellor of MBU, said: “This convocation marks not the end, but the beginning of courageous ambition. At MBU, our mission is to shape not just job-seekers, but changemakers, individuals prepared to lead, innovate and uplift society. I congratulate every graduate stepping into a future full of opportunity and promise.”
