Thiruverkadu police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a real-estate broker on Friday.
On Friday evening, the victim Sivakumar 47, a resident of TDS Nagar in Thiruverkadu had been into real estate business. He used to travel by auto daily to a private school in Paruthipattu to bring back his two daughters and son. On Friday evening while on his way to pick up his children from school in an autorickshaw, he stopped and got down to attend nature’s call. The unidentified men on a motorbike who was following him attacked him with machetes and fled the scene.
Thiruverkadu launched investigation and arrested one history sheeter Lal Prakash, 35 and his accomplice Mohan, 20 who abetted the former in committing the offence. During the interrogation, they told the police that they had committed the offence at the instance of one Suresh of Thiruverkadu. The investigation led to the arrest of Suresh, a real estate broker. Suresh engaged Lal Prakash to finish off Sivakumar who was considered to be a hindrance to an illicit relationship, said police sources.
The police suspect financial disputes in his real estate dealings may also have led to the murder.
