Two women were killed in a road accident at Pravithanam, near Pala, on Tuesday (August 5, 2025) morning, when a car collided head-on with their two-wheelers. The deceased have been identified as Jomol, 35, a resident of Allappara, and Dhanya, 38, from Melukavu.
The accident occurred around 9.30 a.m. near Munangal Church. Jomol was on her way to drop her daughter, Annamol, at school on a two-wheeler, while Dhanya, a private bank employee in Pala, was en route to her workplace.
According to police, the car, carrying four B.Ed students en route to Ramapuram, lost control while negotiating a curve amid heavy rainfall and rammed the two two-wheelers. Preliminary investigations indicate the car was over-speeding. The driver was subjected to a medical examination.
Jomol’s daughter, Annamol, too sustained serious injuries in the crash and has been admitted to a private hospital.
