There was a minor disruption of flight operations at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru due to heavy rains on Tuesday.

KIA officials said that one IndiGo flight from Delhi to Bengaluru was diverted to Coimbatore. The flight returned to Bengaluru after a one-and-half-hour delay.

The officials added that three flights from Bengaluru were also delayed for a few minutes due to heavy rains.

As per the India Meteorological Department data, the KIA station recorded 54.5 mm rainfall on Tuesday till 5.30 p.m.

“It is pouring steadily across Bengaluru, and several key routes are already being affected. This could mean longer, slower journeys to the airport. If you are travelling today, please check your flight status before you leave and allow for extra travel time. We also recommend using a maps app to find clearer routes. Our teams are closely monitoring the weather and are at the airport to assist you. Thank you for staying patient with us as we help you get to your destination safely,” IndiGo said in a post on X.
