A Special Court in Chengalpattu sentenced Hakim Sait, 53 of Kovalam to seven-year imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl two years ago.
The incident occurred on May 29, 2023, while the victim was playing on the street, she was approached by the accused Hakim Sait. The accused lured the child to his house and committed sexual assault. Based on information of the father of the victim, a case was registered at Selaiyur, All Women Police Station under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Hakim Sait was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
A compensation fund of ₹2 lakh was awarded to the victim.
