Aqua farming gets a boost, 173 acres added

The District Level Committee headed by the Collector has approved the inclusion of 173 acres of non-aqua zoned land in the aqua zone areas of the district.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the Collector Vijaya Krishnan in the presence of officials from the department of Fisheries, Pollution Control Board, Marine Police, and Irrigation.

The Collector urged the authorities to work towards increasing the production of varieties of fish and prawns in the district.

The 173 acres were identified in mandals such as Rambilli, Payakaraopeta and S. Rayavaram mandals, and grama sabhas have been completed, said the fisheries officer G. Vijaya.
