An immigration officer posted at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has been booked by the police after a woman passenger from Sri Lanka accused him of stalking her during her transit through the airport.
According to the police, the incident took place on August 3, when the 24-year-old woman was passing through immigration. While at the counter, the officer, in his mid-40s, handed her his phone number and said she could contact him if she needed any help. After she moved past the counter, the officer continued to follow her within the terminal and insisted on accompanying her to the airport parking area.
Following the complaint lodged by the passenger, the RGIA police registered a case of stalking under Section 78(1)(i) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation into the matter is currently under way, the police said.
