The State government and the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) will jointly organise a ‘Global Ayyappa Sangamam’ in the third week of September, Minister for Devaswoms V.N. Vasavan said on Thursday.

The event will be held at Pampa, as part of the 75th anniversary of the TDB. The event is aimed at showcasing Sabarimala as a global pilgrim centre. Mr. Vasavan said the government is expecting 3,000 delegates to attend the conclave.

Although the date is yet to be finalised, the Minister said that the event is planned between September 16 and September 21. Invited delegates will be able to offer prayers at the temple and attend the conclave the next day. This will also be the first of several such events planned in the future, according to him.

Mr. Vasavan reiterated the government’s commitment to improve the amenities for pilgrims at Sabarimala. The delegates attending the conclave will have opportunity to share their experiences, opinions and suggestions for improving the facilities, he said.

For ensuring the smooth conduct of the event, a reception committee will be constituted with the Chief Minister as the chief patron, Ministers as patrons and people’s representatives, government officials as members. Mr. Vasavan chaired a consultation on the Global Ayyappa Sangamam at the Government Guest House here on Thursday. Ministers Saji Cherian and P.A.
