A 33-year-old driver of the Chief Accounts Officer of Chickballapur Zilla Panchayat ended life on the premises of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, leaving behind a suicide note blaming BJP MP Dr. K. Sudhakar and his supporters, for pushing him to take the extreme step.
Sudhakar has been booked for abetment to suicide.
In his suicide note, the deceased Babu accused Sudhakar, his supporters, Nagesh N. and Manjunath, a second division assistant, of cheating him of ₹25 lakh by promising him to get him a permanent job.
Babu, who was working as driver on a contract basis, approached Nagesh to get a permanent job. Claiming to be close to the then Minister for Health and Family Welfare and MP for Chickballapur Sudhakar, Nagesh allegedly assured to get the job done and demanded ₹40 lakh. Nagesh allegedly took Babu to Manjunath who reportedly confirmed that Sudhakar will get the job done and claimed that even he got a permanent job through the then Minister.
Babu raised a loan, put together all his savings, and allegedly paid Nagesh ₹25 Lakh on January 15, 2021. Nagesh allegedly took the money claiming that he had spoken to Sudhakar, and that the job would be done soon. However, Nagesh did not get the job done and started dodging Babu. Dejected over this he ended his life, the letter said.
The Chickballapur police have registered an FIR against Sudhakar, Nagesh, and Manjunath on charges of abetment to suicide. Further investigation is on. The police are expected to issue summon to Sudhakar.
