Miscreants allegedly kidnapped a three-year-old girl from Vijayawada Railway Station on Thursday (August 07) night. Parents, who searched in vain for their daughter then lodged a complaint with Government Railway Police (GRP).

According to the police, the family came from Vetapalem village, of Bapatla district, to have darshan of the deity in Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanam.

When the family was taking rest in the waiting hall the accused kidnapped the girl. The GRP and the police formed special teams and launched a search for the kidnappers.

“We are observing the CCTV footages at the waiting hall, platforms and in the vicinity of the railway station,” Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) inspector K. Madhusudan, who is also the in-charge of Vijayawada GRP, told The Hindu on Friday.

Investigation is on and we are verifying all possible angles, Mr. Madhusudan said.
