The Kacheguda Railway police on Thursday arrested two men for allegedly murdering a 24-year-old by pushing him under a moving train at Malakpet station late on August 2.
The victim, Siraj, was the brother-in-law of the prime accused, an officer from the Kacheguda Railway police said.
“Siraj’s body was found on platform number 1 in the early hours of August 3. A case of suspicious death was initially registered, but CCTV footage and background checks led investigators to Syed Zameer, 21, and Mohammed Junaid, 23, both residents of Yakutpura and workers at local automobile shops,” said the officer.
Further probe revealed that Zameer bore a personal grudge against Siraj, who had married his sister, Sania Begum, three years ago. “Siraj was allegedly harassing Sania while under the influence of alcohol. On the night of August 2, Sania reportedly phoned her brother after a quarrel with Siraj turned violent,” added the officer.
Zameer and Junaid then went to Siraj’s home, took him on a bike to the Malakpet station around 11.50 p.m., and confronted him on the platform. During the altercation, one of the accused pushed Siraj in front of a moving train bound for Kacheguda from Dabeerpura. He succumbed instantly from severe injuries.
