The Maduravoyal Police has arrested the manager of a mobile phone show-room for stealing expensive phones.
Police said Devanathan, a general manager of the private firm lodged a complaint with the police stating that Koilraj, 31, manager of an outlet located in Porur on Arcot Road clandestinely took mobile phones from the rack of the store and sold them, keeping the cash for himself. The theft came to the knowledge of the management when they conducted an internal audit last March. He had sold 85 iPhones worth ₹62 lakh and was now missing, the complainant alleged.
Following the complaint, Maduravoyal Police registered a case and investigated. On investigation, police arrested Koilraj of Sathankulam, Thoothukudi district. During investigation, police learnt that Koilraj had completed B.Tech and was working at a few other mobile phone showrooms in the city. While he was working at Porur, he stole mobile phones and sold them to settle the debts he had.
Police also launched a hunt to nab a few others who are suspected to be allies of Koilraj.
