Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will be attending the International Tribal Day celebrations at Vanjangi village of Paderu mandal in Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district on Saturday.
The Chief Minister will also visit the Modakondamma temple and participate in the traditional tribal cultural events. He will also visit tribal households to understand their living conditions.
Later, Mr. Naidu will interact with the coffee growers. It will be followed by a public meeting at Lagisapalle. From there, he will inaugurate various development projects in the tribal areas. Several MoUs will be signed in his presence. Mr. Naidu is also scheduled to interact with the party workers.
The United Nations has given this year’s theme as ‘Protecting the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Indigenous Peoples’.
The government accelerated road development projects to connect remote tribal habitations with the Agency headquarters and the plains.
Roads and bridges worth ₹2,404 crore were being constructed to enhance connectivity to over 2,075 tribal hamlets over the next five years. In ASR district alone, ₹41 crore was being spent on road corridors. The Community Health Centre at the Chintoor ITDA was being upgraded from 50 to 100 beds.
In addition, ₹50 crore each had been sanctioned for multi-specialty hospitals in Seethampeta, Parvathipuram, Rampachodavaram, KR Puram, and Srisailam ITDA areas. These hospitals were expected to become operational soon. Construction of a medical college in Paderu was also progressing rapidly.
Under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), drinking water supply to 13,816 tribal habitations was being taken up at a cost of ₹2,373 crore, with a target to complete the works by 2026. To support tribal youth preparing for the DSC and other competitive exams, the government had set up Study Circles in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, and other urban centres.
Furthermore, ₹150 crore had been sanctioned to convert residential school buildings in tribal areas into hostels. An additional ₹64 crore was being spent on the construction of over 520 new residential school buildings.
A high-level bridge across the Nagavali between Poornapadu and Komarada in Parvathipuram-Manyam district was being taken up at a cost of ₹10 crore. The government had also devised a plan to expand Araku Coffee, now an internationally renowned brand, by boosting plantation areas and setting up pulping and processing units. Around ₹202 crore would be spent on expansion of coffee plantations and infrastructure. Tourism projects would also be initiated to create job and livelihood opportunities for tribal youth in the Agency regions, a press release said.
