PWD Minister reviews progress of ongoing projects

The Public Works Department must begin construction of structures only after obtaining environment clearances and Directorate of Town and Country Planning approvals for the projects, Public Works Minister E.V.Velu said here on Friday.

Reviewing the progress of ongoing projects implemented by the PWD, he instructed officials to establish lifts in government hospitals and court buildings and repair existing ones apart from checking electrical facilities. He also discussed various issues like electrical accidents in government hospitals and denial of permission for works in Madras Medical College due to objections raised by the State Archeology Department. The Minister also instructed officials to execute measures to tackle inundation during Northeast monsoon.
