A ‘Gateway of Hyderabad’ will be built on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Gandhi Sarovar at Himayatsagar to welcome tourists from across the country.

An eco-theme park will be developed on one side of the ORR, while a massive iconic tower will be erected towards the Bapu Ghat side. The designs will integrate an elevated gateway connecting both structures, serving as a symbolic entrance to the city.

Officials said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy wanted the Bapu Ghat area to be developed into a world-class zone to attract visitors. A new flyover will be built from the Himayatsagar approach road towards Attapur, functioning as a connective corridor around Gandhi Sarovar. This link will enable direct access from the airport to the Gandhi Sarovar, the officials explained.

Highlighting the vision for grandeur, Mr. Revanth Reddy proposed that the iconic tower at Gandhi Sarovar should aim to be the tallest in the world, subject to feasibility and site conditions.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to execute the Musi River Rejuvenation Project in the core urban areas of Hyderabad with multiple benefits and world-class standards. The Musi rejuvenation initiative will also integrate drinking water supply, floodwater management, and advanced water storage solutions. Plans include constructing large underground water storage sumps on both banks of the river basin, ensuring optimal water transport. The Chief Minister directed the officials to study successful international models before finalising the designs.

Mr. Reddy also directed officials to ensure that Osmansagar and Himayatsagar’s water resources be optimally utilised to meet Hyderabad’s growing drinking water needs. Water flow studies for Gandhi Sarovar will be conducted thoroughly before starting international-standard development works. To fast-track implementation, the Chief Minister has ordered that tendering be completed within two months.
