Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transferred ₹1247.34 crore to more than 1.12 crore pensioners through the DBT system on Sunday (August 10, 2025). This is part of the Social Security Pension Scheme.
The pension of ₹1,100 for the month of July has been transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries.

A transfer ceremony programme was held in all 38 districts of Bihar, in which public representatives of the district, District Magistrate and beneficiaries were involved.
Mr. Kumar said that it was a matter of great happiness that the pension had been transferred to the bank accounts of the elderly, disabled people, and widows.
Pension increased
The pension has been increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100 per month from June by the State Government.
Over the last month, about 1 lakh new beneficiaries have been added under the pension scheme. Mr. Kumar asserted that he has been working tirelessly for the development of the State since coming to power in November 2005.
“We have launched many schemes for the upliftment of all sections, and we are working for the welfare of weaker sections of the society,” Mr. Kumar said. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and Vijay Kumar Sinha apart from other cabinet colleagues.

Out of six social security pension schemes, 3 are run by the Central Government.
During the programme, a short film based on the Social Security Pension Scheme was screened for the Chief Minister.
Secretary of Social Welfare Department, Bandana Preyashi, said that the department is fully committed to providing benefits to all those who are eligible, in line with the Chief Minister’s instructions.
To make pensions more accessible, the department has issued a toll free number 18003456262. Complaints can be lodged from Monday to Saturday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
