Former BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai said there is no confusion in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, unlike the confusion prevailing in the DMK alliance.

On the death anniversary of slain BJP leader ‘Auditor’ V. Ramesh in Namakkal, Mr. Annamalai paid floral tribute to the late leader’s portrait and later addressed the media.

Responding to the controversy sparked by his remarks on a coalition government in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Annamalai said there is no room for controversy. The parties are united by a common agenda to defeat the DMK.

“I only repeated what my party leader [Amit Shah] had said, and there is no fight or controversy in wanting to unseat the DMK. There is no confusion as to who is leading the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu and who is the chief ministerial candidate for 2026. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Opposition leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami had jointly announced this,” he said.

“There is no confusion in the NDA, unlike in the DMK alliance, where parties like the Congress, the Communists, and the VCK are criticising the DMK while remaining part of the alliance,” Mr. Annamalai added.

Regarding the suspension recommended for Mayiladuthurai PEW DSP Sundaresan, who had made remarks about higher officials in the media, Mr. Annamalai said that when an honest officer in uniform walks into his office, it shows that the administration has collapsed. “Suspending him without inquiring into the allegations raised by the DSP is not right. The Chief Minister, who is also the Home Minister of Tamil Nadu, should intervene and ensure justice for the officer,” he said.

Demanding that the State government constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged kidney sale racket in the rural areas of Namakkal district, Mr. Annamalai said that for organ transplants, one has to get approval from various departments in the government. “But middlemen are doing it like organised crime and this has come out only through the media. So, an SIT should be formed and they should investigate,” he said.

In Salem, BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran paid floral tribute to the slain BJP leader Ramesh at the spot he was murdered at Maravaneri. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Nagenthran said that the BJP will always support the family members of ‘Auditor’ Ramesh. The BJP leader also extended condolences to the family members of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s eldest son, M.K. Muthu, who died in Chennai on Saturday.
