The Monsoon Session of the State legislature starting from Monday, which is expected to be stormy, will see the NDA partners — BJP and Janata Dal (S) — staging protest over the government’s failure to prevent 11 deaths in the stampede during the victory celebrations of RCB. The protest will be held in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Vidhana Soudha premises here.

At a strategy meeting on Sunday evening, on the eve of the legislature session, the alliance partners decided to hold the protest to seek responsibility for the deaths, before the commencement of the session. Besides, they discussed strategies to corner the government over the shortage of fertilizers, plan to bifurcate Bengaluru administration into five city corporations and corruption issues.

The JD (S) Legislature Party leader C.B. Suresh Babu pointed to the alleged mismanagement of the State government in distribution of fertilizers for which the Central government was being blamed. He also alleged lack of funds for development of constituencies.

The session is likely to witness Opposition members raising the issue of alleged mass burials in Dharmasthala, and questions are likely to raised over the government’s announcement of a second socio-educational survey for backward castes reservation and the latest report submitted on internal reservation by retired judge H.N. Nagamohan Das. The Opposition is also likely to raise the allegations of vote theft made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
