The Union Cabinet has approved the Phase 1B of Lucknow Metro that connects Charbagh to Vasanth Kunj.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday (August 12, 2025) said that “Phase 1B of Lucknow Metro has been approved by the Cabinet for ₹5,801 crore.”

The Union Minister said “Phase 1A is already operational, from Munshipulia to CCS Airport. It’s popular, and people in Lucknow like it. Phase 1B is east to west from Charbagh to Vasant Kunj. With these two phases, there will be north-south and east-west connectivity, giving residents a good facility, and enabling growth in Lucknow, the most populated city in Uttar Pradesh. It’s an industrial, commercial, IT and education hub.”

The project will be executed by Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation, a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
