A long-time employee of Premier Explosives Company in Yadagirigutta died on Tuesday morning after an incident involving sudden air pressure inside the factory.
The victim, identified as 49-year-old Sadanandam, was working at the plant for two decades as a grade 1 worker.
According to police, the incident was reported around 6.20 a.m., shortly after the employee entered the premises.
This comes less than four months after three workers were killed and at least six others injured in a deadly explosion at the Katepalli plant of Premier Explosives Limited. The incident was reported in the propellant mixing unit of the facility and the impact had brought down the entire structure in April this year.
Preliminary investigation suggested that sudden surge of air pressure from a filter caused him to fall, leading to fatal injuries. Sadanandam was shifted to a hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.
Authorities clarified that although the facility manufactures explosives, there was no blast or fire at the time of the incident.
A complaint has been lodged against the company’s management, and further inquiries into safety measures at the factory are under way.
Interestingly, earlier in June, the Telangana Pollution Control Board had revoked its May 7 order closing the factory of Premier Explosives in Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district following the explosion in April.
