A 55-year-old Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) was arrested on charges of sexually harassing a college student in Namakkal district on Tuesday (August 12, 2025).
Mohan is an SSI attached to the Vazhavandhinadu police station. On August 6, when he had come to Namakkal from Kolli Hills, a resident who was known to the SSI asked if he could drop her daughter off at the Namakkal bus stand. She is 19, and a student at a private college in Dindigul district.
The SSI took her with him in his car, and on the way to the bus stand, he allegedly sexually harassed her.
On Monday evening, the teen lodged a complaint with the Namakkal All Women’s police station regarding the incident. The police registered a case against the SSI on Tuesday and arrested him.
