At a meeting of DMK district secretaries chaired by party president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at Anna Arivalayam on Wednesday (August 13, 2025), a resolution was passed condemning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and the alleged “vote theft”.
Considering that the voter list is the primary document for the election process, the resolution passed at the meeting stressed that its accurate and error-free preparation is crucial for conducting independent and fair elections.
Despite protests by Opposition parties and a warning from the Supreme Court, the deletion of 65 lakh voters on frivolous grounds is an anti-democratic act, the resolution alleged. It further stated that such actions shatter the level playing field in the electoral arena.
The resolution also strongly condemned the BJP-led Union government for detaining and registering FIRs against INDIA bloc MPs, including Rahul Gandhi, who led a protest march towards the Election Commission of India (ECI) in New Delhi. It also condemned the “biased actions” of the Centre and the ECI.
Another resolution also urged that before the commencement of model code of conduct (MCC) in Tamil Nadu and other States, the ECI must ensure that the voter list is verified and confirmed in a free and fair manner.
Another resolution thanked the office-bearers for making Oraniyil Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadu Under One Front) membership drive a grand success.
