The Mahila Court here has awarded 10 years imprisonment to a youth who sexually assaulted a minor girl in the guise of marrying her.
According to prosecution, N. Mayakrishnan, 25, of Naduvaikurichi under Puthiyampuththur police station limits sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl in the guise of marrying her. On coming to know about this, the victim’s mother filed a complaint with Puthiyampuththur police, who arrested Mayakrishnan under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
Mahila Court judge Murugan awarded 10 years imprisonment to Mayakrishnan and slapped a fine of ₹3,000 on him on Wednesday.
