Flood warning in Hyderabad as more water released from Himayatsagar reservoir on August 14

The outflow from Himayatsagar reservoir on Hyderabad outskirts increased as more gates were lifted by Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Thursday (August 14, 2025) morning.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) on Thursday (August 14, 2025) issued a flood warning, again, as it released more water from Himayatsagar reservoir on the city outskirts. A similar alert was issued over a week ago when Himayatsagar and Osmansagar neared full tank level (FTL).

According to an update from the Board issued around 12.20 p.m., nine gates were operated for four feet height to release 12,046 Cusecs of water. The inflows were 20,000 Cusecs.

The outflow on Wednesday late night was 1,927 Cusecs with three gates operated. The number of gates operated and the outflow gradually increased as Thursday morning progressed. At noon, the water level in the reservoir was 1763.05 (2.6799 TMC), against the full tank level (FTL) of 1763.50 feet.

Meanwhile, in Hussain Sagar of Hyderabad, the water level on Thursday morning was at +513.30 m against the FTL of +513.41m. The inflow was 305 Cusecs and the outflows was 820 Cusecs .
