The Greater Chennai Traffic Police has introduced yet another traffic diversion on Anna Salai in Teynampet. It will be implemented from Sunday.

Last April, a traffic change was introduced on Anna Salai and L.R. Swami building junction. All vehicles from Anna Salai were diverted to Cenotaph Road and Nandanam junction, since the State Highways Department was constructing a 3.2-km-long flyover on the arterial road.

Trial basis

At present, to facilitate this construction work near Teynampet, traffic diversions would be implemented on a trial basis from August 17 (Sunday), the police said.

As per an announcement, vehicles heading from Saidapet to the Anna Flyover should take a left turn at Anna Salai and Eldams Road junction, and proceed towards Thyagaraya Road, Ma.Po.Si. Junction, and North Boag Road. They should then take a right turn towards Vijayaraghava Road Junction and take the Vijayaraghava Road to reach Anna Salai.

Vehicles proceeding to T. Nagar from Anna Salaiî ˆcan take a right turn at Anna Salai and Eldams Road Junction towards Thyagaraya Road. Those heading from T. Nagar to Anna Salai should take a left turn at Ma.Po.Si. Junction on Thyagaraya Road and proceed via Vijayaraghava Road to reach Anna Salai.

Vehicles coming from South Boag Road should proceed straight towards North Boag Road and then to Vijayaraghava Road to reach Anna Salai, instead of turning right at Ma.Po.Si. Junction. Those coming from Anna Flyover cannot turn right towards Vijayaraghava Road.
