A 38-year-old man was arrested on Friday (August 15, 2025) for allegedly stabbing his wife to death during a quarrel at their house in Kotturpuram on Thursday (August 14) night.
The police said the victim, Sanja Yadav, 36, collapsed outside her residence in an apartment complex on Ellaiamman Koil Street with stab injuries on her abdomen. On hearing her screams, neighbours rushed her to a hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.
Based on a complaint from the houseowner, the Kotturpuram police registered a case of murder and launched an investigation.
Her husband, Sunbahathur Sarki, 38, of West Bengal, was arrested within hours, the police said.
A bloodstained knife was recovered from the scene. During questioning, Sunbahathur, a watchman, reportedly admitted to attacking his wife in a fit of rage following an argument.
