Two constables attached to Law and Order (L&O) wing of Arakkonam Town police in Ranipet were suspended on Saturday for not informing higher officials on life threats issued by suspects against a youth, who was murdered later.
The suspended constables were identified as Kadar Basha (45) and Sivakumar (34). The order was issued by G. Dharmarajan, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Vellore Range. The suspension comes after Thanga Gurunathan (48), Inspector, Arakkonam Town police, was suspended on Wednesday (August 13) for failing to take adequate steps to prevent killing of the youth by a gang.
Police said the issue relates to the arrest of nine persons including DMK councilor and her husband who were arrested in connection with murder of S. Avinesh (28), a native of Ammanur village that comes under Arakkonam panchayat union in Ranipet.
