On a day when Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan’s name was announced as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the NDA, the former Coimbatore MP sought blessings at the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai along with his wife. Later in the day, after the official announcement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the Raj Bhavan to felicitate him and offer his wishes. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar too extended their wishes to the Governor.
“Heartiest congratulations to Maharashtra Governor Hon CP Radhakrishnan ji on his selection as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate for the Vice President of India. Throughout his tenure as a Member of Parliament and Governor in various States, Hon Governor Radhakrishnan ji has garnered extensive expertise in a wide range of legislative and constitutional matters. His selection as the V-P candidate fills us all Maharashtrians with immense pride!” Mr. Fadnavis posted on social media.
Mr. Ajit Pawar posted, “Congratulations to incumbent Maharashtra Governor Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan ji on being announced as NDA’s candidate for the Vice Presidential election. I am sure once elected, his long-standing experience and dedication will only enrich this high constitutional office. Wishing him the very best.”

Extending his support to the candidature of Mr. Radhakrishnan, Mr. Shinde posted on his social media account, “By selecting the Honorable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri @CPRGuv ji, as the candidate for the post of Vice President, the National Democratic Alliance under the leadership of Prime Minister @narendramodi has duly honoured an experienced, wise, honest, and patriotic personality in the political field. On behalf of the Shiv Sena party, I announce support for the candidacy of the respected Radhakrishnan, who has long experience in parliamentary work as a Member of Parliament and deep knowledge of administrative work as a Governor. Also, heartfelt congratulations on the nomination for the Vice President post. Since his victory in this election is certain, I extend my best wishes that his tenure as Vice President be successful and that his career be remarkable for the bright future of the country.”
BJP national president and Union Minister J.P. Nadda earlier in the day announced that Mr. Radhakrishnan is the vice-presidential pick after the meeting of the BJP parliamentary board concluded.
“We will also be reaching out to the opposition soon on this matter,” said Mr. Nadda. The vice-presidential polls were necessitated after former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post, citing health issues.
