Three women, including two relatives, from TR Nagar in Telangana’s Jagtial town are feared to have drowned after the car they were travelling in was washed away by floodwaters on the Udgir-Deglur road in neighbouring Maharashtra on Sunday (August 16, 2025) night.
Sources close to the families of the missing trio said that the incident occurred when the hired car was swept away in a swollen stream while crossing an overflowing causeway near Udgir.
The missing women were identified as Afreen, her close relative Haseena and neighbour Sameena. Another occupant of the car managed to come out of the vehicle and swim to safety, sources added.

The trio was returning to Jagtial after visiting their relative’s house in Maharashtra. The mishap occurred soon after they boarded the ill-fated car along with a few other passengers amid heavy rain. A search operation is underway at Udgir to trace the three missing women. Anxious relatives of the trio rushed to the accident site in Maharashtra, where rescue efforts are ongoing.
