Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy were obstructing enhanced reservations for Backward Classes (BC) under the guise of religion.

“For 56 years, BCs among Muslims enjoyed the reservation benefits. Why can’t BJP remove them in Gujarat, or Uttar Pradesh if they are so opposed to reservations to Muslims? They are using religion to deny BCs their rights,” he charged.

Mr. Reddy was speaking after paying tributes to Sardar Sarvai Papanna Goud on his birth anniversary. Earlier, he laid the foundation stone for Papanna Goud’s statue near the Tank Bund in Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister credited the Gandhi family for shaping India into one of the world’s largest democratic systems and said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi continued that legacy through the Bharat Jodo Yatra. “Rahul Gandhi promised a caste census, and we fulfilled that promise in Telangana through a scientific survey.”

The CM said that his government passed two separate legislations to ensure 42% reservations for BCs in education, employment, and politics and sent bills pertaining to the enhanced reservations them to the Centre. BJP is sitting on the legislations. “When justice was denied, the Congress held a dharna in New Delhi, but the BJP and BRS didn’t join the fight,” he said, alleging that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) did great injustice to the BCs in its 10-year rule and it is continuing its discrimiantion by siding with the BJP.

Referring to electoral issues, the Chief Minister accused the BJP of committing large-scale voter fraud across the country. “In Maharashtra, one crore bogus votes were added in four months. In Bihar, 65 lakh votes were deleted. When Rahul Gandhi exposed this conspiracy, the Election Commission is asking him for affidavits. Is this justice?” he questioned.

Mr. Reddy announced that he and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu would soon join Rahul Gandhi’s padyatra against vote fraud in Bihar. “The conspiracy is not limited to Maharashtra or Bihar. It is happening in Telangana too. We must all unite and fight against those who try to steal our votes,” he said.

The Chief Minister hailed Papanna Goud as a great warrior who established his empire centuries ago and vowed to preserve his legacy. He accused the previous BRS government of conspiring to erase history by allowing mining near the historic Khilashapur Fort. “We protected the fort and promised to develop it into a major heritage tourism site,” he said. “Papanna’s statue would soon be installed near the State Secretariat as an inspiration to the Backward Classes.”
