Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy stressed the need to provide quality education, accommodation and food for the students studying in government schools.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy on Monday made a surprise visit to the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) at Banaganapalle, where the government is constructing six additional rooms at a cost of ₹2.5 crore and introducing Intermediate course. The Minister inspected the ongoing construction works and later visited the classrooms. Interacting with the students, Mr. Janardhan Reddy enquired about the teaching being imparted, food and accommodation facilities at the school.
The Minister also enquired about the quality of school bags and dresses given by the government. When asked if every student in the school received the ‘Thalliki Vandanam’ financial assistance, the students told the Minister that they were receiving the government benefit. He also asked about the menu provided to them and whether the meals served was made with polished rice or not.
Mr. Janardhan Reddy asked the students to focus on academics and bring good name to their school and parents. When the Minister asked if they were facing any problems, the students requested for a dhobi ghat to wash their clothes. Mr. Janardhan Reddy asked the officials to send a proposal for construction of a dhobi ghat at the school.
Later, Mr. Janardhan Reddy went around the school and inspected the drinking water facility and water plant, quality of ingredients stored at the store room and the kitchen for cooking meals and made some suggestions to improve them.
