Animal rights activists continued to stage protests in the national capital against the Supreme Court’s August 11 directive mandating the authorities to relocate stray dogs to shelters located away from public places.

The apex court had on August 14 reserved its order on an interim plea seeking a stay on its August 11 suo motu directive.

“Today, we gathered in Pitampura and Dwarka to register our protest against the court order. We will continue till the court stays its decision,” Ashima Sharma, a member of India Unites for Animal Rights, said on Monday.

She added, “Had the civic agencies been fulfilling their responsibilities properly, we wouldn’t be in this position.”
