Rashmika Sahgal and Kanak won the junior and youth gold medals in air pistol in the 16th Asian shooting championship on Tuesday.
The best of Indian shooters found it hard to capture the gold in the main event, and double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker no exception, as she was pushed to the bronze by Ma Qianke of China and Yang Jiin of Korea in women’s air pistol.
More importantly, the golden girl of Indian shooting this season, Suruchi Phogat who had won three individual gold medals in the three World Cups so far this season, shot 574 and failed to make the final.
Manu shot 583 in qualification, but a string of 9s in the final pulled her down to the bronze.
Rashmika was dominant in the junior event as she top-scored in qualification with 582, and beat Han Seunghyun of Korea by 4.3 points for the gold.
Kanak beat compatriot Agam Grewal by 2.2 points for the youth gold and bagged the team gold as well, even though the third member Gamberya Gowda shot a below par 558.
