Ice manufacturing unit sealed – The Hindu

The Corporation Health Department officials sealed an ice manufacturing unit on the city outskirts on Tuesday after ammonia leak was reported recently.

After ammonia allegedly leaked from the ice manufacturing unit at Thanthai Periyar Nagar near Mela Alangarathattu on August 4, fire and rescue services personnel and the police rushed the spot even as the residents of this area moved to safer places. The residents returned to their homes after the fire and rescue services personnel doused the intensity of the pungent gas.

Even as the Thalamuthu Nagar police have registered case against the ice manufacturing unit, the Corporation officials, led by City Health Officer Saroja sealed the factory on Tuesday.
