Asserting that Karnataka has every right to utilise its share of Mahadayi waters, Water Resources Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday accepted the proposal by some members to take a State delegation of MLAs and leaders to New Delhi to request the Central authorities to grant all the necessary permissions to commence work on the Kalasa-Banduri Nala drinking water project using Mahadayi inter-State river waters.
While Congress member N.H. Konareddy appealed to the Minister during the Question Hour in the Assembly to take a delegation of State leaders to the Centre to get the necessary approvals, and the Opposition members endorsed his proposal.
Responding positively to this, Mr. Shivakumar said: “Lets go to Delhi. You talk to Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. Let’s meet the Union Ministers concerned in this regard.”
Mr. Shivakumar said he had already met the Union Minister for Environment and Forests Bhupendra Yadav four times in this regard.
