Former Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has urged universities in the State to focus more on skill training for students.
Along with knowledge creation, varsities should focus on improving the skill level of students, he said at a career orientation session held at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), Kalady.
The event was part of the joint initiative of the university and the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission under the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council.
He urged students to realise their skill levels while pursuing academic programmes. The government has launched various programmes to inculcate entrepreneurship on campuses, he said.
As part of the joint association with the Kerala Knowledge Economy Mission, students will be given training on how to step up their skills in tune with the requirements of the job market. Sessions on ‘How to perform in interviews’ and ‘Developing English language skills’ will be offered as part of the programme.
