Flood alert as HMWSSB plans to lift Osmansagar gates at 4.00 p.m. August 20

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) issued a flood alert as it plans to lift two gates of Osmansagar reservoir, popularly known as Gandipet, on Hyderabad outskirts at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (August 20, 2025). Due to rain in the catchment area and increase in inflows, the Board would discharge 226 cusecs from the reservoir. 

The full tank level (FTL) of the reservoir is 1790.00 feet (3.900 TMC) and present water level is 1788.60 feet (3.579 TMC), as per a communication from the Board issued around 2.30 p.m.

Meanwhile, two gates of its twin reservoir, Himayatsagar, were operatedby three feet to discharge 2034 Cusecs. The present water level is 1763.00 (2.781 TMC) against the FTL of 1763.50 Feet(2.970 TMC).
