Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday paid tributes to freedom fighter Ondiveeran on his death anniversary.
In a post on X, Mr. Ravi said Ondiveeran, the fearless commander, visionary leader, and valiant freedom fighter, made the supreme sacrifice fighting the tyrannical British. âHis unmatched courage and sacrifice inspired the nationâs long struggle for freedom. His enduring legacy continues to guide us in building a resilient and self-reliant Viksit Bharat 2047,â he said.
Mr. Stalin, in a post on X, said by refusing to pay paddy as tax to the British, Ondiveeran, a brave warrior, challenged foreign domination. On this day, let us take a pledge to spread across India the heroic history of valiant warriors of southern Tamil Nadu â Pulithevan and Ondiveeran â who waged battles against the British even a century before the Sepoy Mutiny, he added.
