‘Active participation in co-curricular, extracurricular activities essential for overall growth’

Government College of Engineering, Bodinayakanur, in Theni district on Wednesday inaugurated its Freshers Induction Programme for the academic year 2025–26.

According to a press release, the week-long programme, scheduled from August 20 to August 24, aims to welcome and orient first year students into the academic and cultural environment of the institution. Students were briefed about placement opportunities, hostel rules and regulations and scholarship details.

In her presidential address, Principal C. Vasanthanayaki highlighted the importance of holistic development in shaping the students into responsible individuals.

She emphasised that along with academic excellence, qualities such as discipline, values and active participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities were essential for the overall growth.

She told the students to make the best use of the opportunities provided by the institution and reminded them that involvement would not only enhance their skills but also prepare them to meet the future challenges with self confidence.
